Questions
Frequently asked
Which compression level should I use?
Start with Basic if quality matters most. Use Moderate for a good balance, or Strong when you need the smallest possible file, for example to meet an upload limit.
Will compressing reduce the quality of my PDF?
Basic keeps quality high. Moderate and Strong lower the resolution of images to 150 and 72 dpi, which shrinks the file more but can make photos look softer. Text stays sharp.
Why did my PDF barely get smaller?
Files that are mostly text, or already compressed, have little left to remove. Try a stronger level if your PDF contains large images.
How long does it take to compress a PDF?
Usually just a few seconds. Very large files can take a little longer.
Is Compress PDF free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermarks added to your files.
