Smart 256-color palette
Each page gets its own palette of up to 256 colors chosen from its content. Pages with few colors are saved exactly, and photos are smoothly dithered.
Compact for simple pages
Text, line art and flat-color charts compress very well as GIF, often into smaller files than PNG at the same resolution.
One image per page
Each page becomes its own GIF. Several pages download together as a ZIP.
Questions
Frequently asked
Will photos in my PDF look different?
GIF is limited to 256 colors per image, so photos and smooth gradients can look slightly grainy. For photo-heavy pages, PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG gives better results.
Can I make an animated GIF from my PDF?
No. Each page is saved as a separate still GIF, downloaded together as a ZIP when there are several pages.
Which DPI should I choose?
72 DPI suits thumbnails and web previews, 150 DPI keeps text readable, and 300 DPI gives extra detail at a larger file size.
Are the GIFs transparent?
No. Pages are rendered on a white background, just like they look in a PDF reader.
Is PDF to GIF free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermarks added to your files.
